Sneaker News Info + Updates May 23rd

NIKE, Inc. confirmed a release date for the Nike Space Hippie collection. Vans and National Geographic put together a five-piece footwear capsule. Jordan Brand (unofficially) delivered looks at two upcoming retros of the Air Jordan 1. And adidas Yeezy had more pairs of the Yeezy 350 rumored.

Officially announced with a “Trash Transformed” tag-line, Nike’s Space Hippie collection is the company’s next big, bold sustainability bet. The four-model line boasts “Space Waste Yarn” uppers constructed from 85% polyester recycled from plastic bottles, yarn scraps, and t-shirts. Each silhouette — aptly named Space Hippie 01, Space Hippie 02, Space Hippie 03, and Space Hippie 04 — sits atop Crater Foam midsoles created from ZoomX surplus from the game-changing NEXT% line. The collection launches on June 11th.

Elsewhere under The Swoosh umbrella, news of a dozen pairs of the Nike Dunk had many looking forward to the rest of 2020 and 2021. Official and unofficial looks at Nike LeBron retros and Nike Kobe 5 Protros similarly had sneaker/basketball/James/Bryant fans joyful and nostalgic. Nike’s BeTrue 2020 collection unveiling ahead of Pride Month also had many perplexed at the fact that June was among them. And two more Grateful Dead SB Dunks left others hopeful that the colorful quintet will drop.

Away from any Swoosh logos, adidas (unofficially) teased more from the relatively novel Yeezy empire, while Reebok took a trip to 1995 with news that it’s reissuing Shawn Kemp’s Kamikaze II.

For all that and more, check out our top twelve headlines from May 23rd to May 29th ahead.
