Justice League Snyder Cut Gets First Clip, With Darkseid Footage

After two years of rumor and denial, plus much fan campaigning, it was announced in May that Zack Snyder’s version of the much-maligned DC movie Justice League will be released on HBO Max next year. The first clip from the Snyder Cut has now been released.

The clip was posted by Snyder himself on Twitter. It was released to promote DC’s upcoming virtual event DC FanDome, and it reveals the first footage of the villainous Darkseid. The clip starts with Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) looking up at an ancient picture, while a voiceover talks ominously that “the bells have already been rung.” It then cuts to a brief shot of Darkseid standing against an apocalyptic background. Check it out below:

Justice League was originally released in November 2017. Synder left the movie while it was still being made, and was replaced by Joss Whedon, who oversaw reshoots and post-production. The result was a critical and commercial failure, and fans have campaigned ever since to see Synder’s original vision.

The Snyder cut was announced in May, shortly before the launch of HBO Max. Snyder has stated that the movie “will be an entirely new thing,” and it has been reported that it will cost Warner at least $20 million to finish it. For more, check out Crumpe’s guide to the new version of Justice League.

DC FanDome was announced earlier this week. The online event will be available for 24 hours at DCFanDome.com, starting at 10am PT on Saturday, August 22. It will allow fans to hear news and updates from the cast and crew of upcoming DC movies and shows, including The Batman, The Suicide Squad, Batwoman, Black Adam, and Wonder Woman 1984.
